a voluntary way to protect trees in davidson county...

The Metro Tree Advisory Committee of the Beautification and Environment Commission has a program to allow property owners a way to protect trees.  First you apply for your tree to be designated as historic or specimen. If approved by Metro, you may then apply for a deed restriction on the property to ensure the following:

  • Trees on properties with deed restrictions are protected from removal even after the property changes ownership.

  • Future property owners would have to apply to have the deed restriction removed should they desire to cut down the tree.

Trees do not have to be Big Old Tree Contest winners to qualify. More information can be found at Nashville.gov by clicking here.
